Why Healthy Living Matters

That salad and latte was truly chefs kiss

When I was on a walk the other day, I ran into the sweetest old man. After exchanging the obligatory “how are you?” with each other, he said something that really stuck with me. He said as he was walking away, “When you get to my age, every day is a great day”. I know what you are thinking - “girl, that’s not that profound”, but in that moment, what he said truly stuck with me. It made me reflect on the number of days I take for granted (and live life without this daily mindset).

Healthy living matters because it pertains to everything you choose to consume. The food you consume, the entertainment you consume, the negativity/positivity you consume, the list goes on and on. What you choose to let in is what you will ultimately give out. If I choose to live my life and take in the mindset of “every day is a great day to be alive”, then I am going to be automatically more grateful and appreciative towards everything God has given me. This, in turn, makes me automatically value even more what I decide to take in (which to me is a healthy living mindset).

One of the ways that makes me even more grateful to be alive is when I feel my best. This starts with the basics - eating right and moving my body! That is why I am so passionate about cooking, because it is something that truly gives me joy. To create something that is going to make me feel amazing, and give me energy to get through my day.

Anyways, I know I haven’t written a post in a while, but I hope even if just one person reads this (if that’s you, hey! appreciate you!), it would inspire you and challenge you to think about why healthy living truly matters, and is all-encompassing.

I promise my next post is going to be all about my current hyperfixation on shaved carrot salads. I know that sounds semi-lame, but TRUST it is so fire, and there are so many recipe combos I am pumped to share!

With love,

justachefsdaughter :)
